Disney Vacation Account Payout

Sadly, Disney announced the closing of the Disney Vacation Account program on July 25, 2017.  They are no longer available for use.

As we have discussed in a previous post, one of our favorite ways to accumulate additional savings for our Disney vacations is to collect gift cards at reduced prices and then deposit them into a Disney Vacation Account.  For each $1000 you put into the account, you will receive $20 on a gift card for your trip.  It is a 2% discount for each $1000 increment you add to the account, so $2500 gives you the same benefit as $2000: a $40 gift card.

Once you are ready to apply your Disney Vacation Account savings to your trip, you will need to request your bonus: a Disney gift card.  Enter in your travel dates and the gift card will be processed and sent.  Note that to receive the gift card benefit, your account must have been created more than 120 days before you spend the money in your account; Disney recommends requesting the gift card 4-6 weeks in advance of your trip to make sure you receive it on time.

Your Disney gift card will come in the mail.  Here is what the envelope looks like:

Inside the envelope is a card carrier that contains the gift card.

The card carrier has the gift card attached on the inside.  This gift card was from a $4037 account that we had saved for a cruise.

The opposite side of the card carrier has information about where the gift card can be used.  We’ve actually used gift cards at all these Disney destinations except Adventures by Disney!

As long as you have more than 120 days before your vacation dollars are due, the Disney Vacation Account program provides a great way to earn some extra money towards your Disney vacation!
