Today was our first trip to the island of Antigua! We were pretty excited because we love stopping at new places. Nancy and I got up early and went to Cabanas for a quick bite and some coffee, then headed back to the room and woke the girls up. After they got ready, we all went back to Cabanas so the girls could eat.
We slept in till 9:30 am on St. Maarten day since we didn’t have a specific time we needed to leave the ship. We decided on this cruise to get in a number of relaxing beach days and this would be the first one. We decided to return to one of the easiest beach stops there is, the Holland House. This was recommended to us by the DCL Dude and this would be our second return.
We ended up having to get two Ubers to get to the port. The six of us, along with our luggage, wouldn’t fit inside the Uber XL we had ordered. Four of us took all the suitcases and headed to the port while our friends ordered a smaller Uber for themselves. The total drive from the hotel to the port took about 10 minutes. Once we arrived at the port, we grabbed our bags and headed to the line to drop off luggage to the porters.
After getting through the holidays, our travel day soon arrived. On January 25th, 2020, we left for our trip. As I mentioned in a previous post, we booked our flights on American Airlines. Normally this would have us traveling out of Reagan National Airport, which is an American hub, but our flights were instead out of Dulles. Since the flights were in the afternoon at 3:40 pm, we had the taxi pick us up around 12:45, which got us to the airport around 1 pm. We dropped off our bags and proceeded through the relatively empty TSA Precheck security lines.
When the Disney Cruise Line Spring 2020 itineraries were released, we didn’t plan to book anything. We had already booked a Spring Break cruise on the new Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas and thought that would be our big cruise for the spring. As the winter went on, we got tired of sitting in the cold and looked at what was available. Luckily, I look every month to see the cheapest Disney cruises. There were two cruises that matched up well with a long school break in January and were relatively cheap (compared to other Disney cruises).
In our opening day price post, we showed you the prices for the Fall 2021 Disney Cruise Line Itineraries. Those were the initial prices for when Platinum level Castaway Club Members could book. Since it has been about a month since those prices were available for everyone, let’s look at what the prices are currently for a family of two adults and two children. The prices listed are for the cheapest option for each of the different types of staterooms. Higher level categories in each of the four basic room types will cost more.
