Ovation of the Seas
Ovation of the Seas

One of the worst aspects of any cruise vacation is the fact that you actually have to pay your final bill! (Just kidding). If you’ve never cruised with Royal Caribbean before, I wanted to share exactly what that final Guest Account Summary will look like once you receive it.  This final statement is from our Ovation of the Seas cruise that we took to Alaska. It was waiting for us the morning of disembarkation. You can also go to Guest Services at any point on the cruise to get a printed version of it (for charges up to that point).  read more

Disembarkation
Disembarkation

The morning of disembarkation is usually very sad.  Everyone plans their flights so they can leave the ship and head directly to the airport, giving themselves an hour or so of cushion to make their flights.  We planned our flights so we had as much time in San Juan today as possible.  We got up at 7 am to finish packing the stateroom and then we took our bags with us to Tiana’s for breakfast.  read more

Day At Sea
Day At Sea

Today was the only sea day that we had on this seven night cruise.  We had managed to get a coveted Palo brunch reservation, but that was the end of the planning we had done for the day.  We woke up at a respectable 9 am.  Since our brunch wasn’t until noon, we decided to head up to the pool deck to relax in the warm weather.

The family pool area was very crowded, so we eventually ended up on Deck 10 to to get a good spot to watch Funnel Vision.  We had a fairly decent spot and spent the next few hours enjoying the warm weather. read more

Day 6 - St. Lucia
Day 6 – St. Lucia

Today was one of our most anticipated stops for multiple reasons.  When we originally discussed taking this cruise, I asked the girls what they most wanted to do on the trip.  Our younger daughter said she wanted to try riding Segways.  St. Lucia was the only stop that Disney offered a Segway adventure, so we signed up for this excursion right after we got our sea day Palo Brunch.  We were also excited to visit St. Lucia because our daughter’s preschool teacher was from St. Lucia and would always tell us how beautiful the island was.  Her descriptions left us with the desire to visit. read more

Day 5 - Barbados
Day 5 – Barbados

Today we would be stopping at Barbados, which was another new port of call for us.  We pre-ordered room service to speed up breakfast so that we could get down to the theater for our excursion for the day. We had selected the Barbados Beach Break, which should have given us four hours (or so) at a nice beach.   We arrived at 8:50 am for our 9:00 am excursion, and it was at this moment I should have known today wasn’t going to go well. read more
