We’ve previously discussed using the Target 5% discount<\/a> as a method to reduce the cost of your Disney vacations.<\/p>\n

Another aspect of that discount method is the ability to stack discounts on top of it.\u00a0 One aspect of the online Target checkout software is that it allows you to pay with Target Gift Cards.\u00a0 As long as your Target Credit\/Debit\/Prepaid card is set as the default payment method, you can still get 5% off your total purchase EVEN if you use Target Gift Cards to pay for it.\u00a0 This is not the way it works in the store though.\u00a0 In the store, you only get 5% off the portion of your purchase that actually goes onto the Target Credit\/Debit\/Prepaid card.<\/p>\n

So, now that you know you can use Target Gift Cards and still get the 5% discount, you need to find places to acquire Target Gift Cards at a discount.\u00a0 This can be grocery stores, office supply stores, etc.\u00a0 You can even buy them at Target if that works for you using a credit card that gives you 2 or more percent back.<\/p>\n

How will this add to a larger discount?\u00a0 If you have a credit card that gives you a 2% discount, you can purchase your Target Gift Cards and get 2% cash back for them.\u00a0 You can purchase a $100 Target Gift card for $98.\u00a0 Then, use that $100 gift card to order $100 in Disney gift cards for $95, leaving you $5 on the Target gift card.\u00a0 So, you got $100 in Disney gift cards, but you only spent $98 and you have a $5 Target gift card which you can use for your next gift card purchase.\u00a0 You have effectively purchased your Disney gift cards for 7% off.<\/p>\n

The key to this strategy is to see if you can boost that 2% discount higher.\u00a0 There are several credit cards that will give you up to 5-6% off at grocery stores or office supply stores.\u00a0 Those are great sources to search for Target Gift Cards to take advantage of this.<\/p>\n

You can also buy Target gift cards online through raise.com or other methods to get larger discounts.\u00a0 Target had a Black Friday special in 2014 that allowed you to buy up to $300 in Target gift cards at a 10% discount.\u00a0 If you bought them with a 2% cash back card, you would effectively be buying those Disney gift cards at 17% off!\u00a0 I’ll take that discount any day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
