Nassau
We woke up the next day with the boat docked in Nassau. Since we didn’t plan on going into the town, we slept in a bit late. One of the girls LOVES the french toast served at Beach Blanket, the buffet served on Deck 9. We headed up there for breakfast, then staked out some chairs on the pool deck. We settled in to let the girls swim in the pools. Nancy and I relaxed and watched movies on the Funnel Vision. The older girl decides now is the time to tell us that they have soft pretzels at the pizza place on Deck 9. As a family, we love Disney pretzels with a passion. This was our third cruise and we were just now finding out about the free pretzels!!! So, needless to say, we stuffed ourselves stupid with them.
After eating way too many pretzels, we decided to take a stroll around the ship again to explore all the nooks and crannies. As expected, the top decks of the ship were a bit crowded with the folks who decided to stay on board the ship. Nancy and one of the girls decided to get off the ship and explore the port area a bit to get some pictures of the ship.
After they got back on board, it was time to start thinking about getting ready for dinner. We went to the stateroom to get ready, but spent a good amount of time on the verandah watching as the ship sailed out of port. Nancy was able to get this great picture as the ship sailed out of Nassau.
The theme for the night was Pirate Night, one of our favorites. The dinner is pretty much the same on Pirate Night no matter what ship you are on, but fortunately we really like it. The cabin hosts leave pirate bandannas in your room if you want to get into the spirit a bit, but some people go way beyond that and get fully dressed out in costume. We brought our pirate hats, but that was about it. We stopped on the way to dinner as well to see Pirate Stitch!
The hit of the night though was the pirate party held on Deck 9. In addition to a show (complete with Mickey, Minnie, and the gang), there are fireworks. Our youngest absolutely loves the party and always arrives early to be in the front row of the party. There are always pirate games to play before the party as well, which is a big hit. Nancy and our oldest daughter aren’t big fans of fireworks, so they usually retreat to the cabin during this time. During the party, fireworks are shot off the starboard (right) side of the boat, themed perfectly to music, of course.
