After moving through a series of Hilton Credit Cards and using up all the free nights and points you have accumulated, you’d almost think you would have to pay for a hotel room. Luckily, Chase comes to the rescue with the Chase Hyatt Credit Card. This card is an important one to us for a few reasons.
The Chase Hyatt Credit Card will get you two free nights at any Hyatt property, in any category, after you spend $1,000 within the first three months of opening the card. This is potentially a huge signup bonus depending upon where you use the card. For example, you could pick a domestic Hyatt Regency for $200 a night or you could pick a room at the Hyatt Regency London that costs $600 a night. In addition to the signup bonus, you also receive a free night at a category 1-4 Hyatt property when you pay your annual fee of $75. The annual fee is waived for the first year.
The Chase Hyatt Credit Card allows you to earn Hyatt Gold Passport Points, which can be redeemed for rooms at Hyatt properties. Three points are earned per dollar charged to the card from any Hyatt property. Two points are earned per dollar charged to the card at restaurants, for airline tickets charged directly from the airlines, and at car rental agencies. One point will be earned per dollar charged for anything else on the card. You will also receive 5,000 bonus points the first time an authorized user charges anything to the card.
The Chase Hyatt card will automatically grant the primary card holder Platinum status with the Hyatt Gold Passport program. This gives you a 15% bonus on points earnings on eligible spend, free in-room internet, and expedited check in.
The bonus points and points from spend are really worthwhile within the Hyatt program. Here are the points needed at the various properly levels:
You don’t need a lot of points to be able to stay at a great property. Of particular interest to us is the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport, which is a category three property. The hotel is inside the Orlando airport and seems like a great place to spend the night before a Disney cruise leaving from Port Canaveral. Spending $75 on an annual fee for a room at this hotel is a great deal for us, especially since we have a few cruises scheduled that leave from Port Canaveral.
Overall, this card offers a great signup bonus (two free nights plus 5,000 bonus points) and a $75 night (via the annual fee) at any category 1-4 property. While the Platinum status won’t move you to the top of the heap, it does add some benefits. This card is just as useful at the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select Credit Card in terms of the elevated status and free night when paying the annual fee.
