Epcot
Epcot is one of our favorite parks. We were especially excited during our December trip because they were having the International Festival of the Holidays while we were visiting. It seems like a slightly smaller Food and Wine Festival.
Here are a few of the dishes we tried. We managed to get at least one thing at each booth, but I’m not going to post pictures of all the dishes we got.
We made sure to stop by to take in the Candlelight Processional. This is a reading of the Christmas story that is done, usually by someone famous. We didn’t stay for the entire show, my wife just wanted to get a picture of Neil Patrick Harris.
There are also performances in each of the countries done in their own version of Christmas. We saw the “Julenissen” or Santa Claus in Norway.
We stopped by the Mexico Pavilion as well to see the display from Coco the Movie.
One thing we hadn’t done before was to watch the Voices of Liberty in the American Pavilion. We made sure to take in a performance of them this time when we were there.
There was also a gingerbread version featuring landmarks from our hometown: the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building.
We wondered into Innoventions at one point and noticed the SpectacuLab. It was a science type show led by an MC who learned science with the help of two scientists. It was pretty interesting, but I don’t think I would need to see it a second time.
We also tried Les Chefs de France for the first time. We arrived around 5:30 pm for dinner and waited about 10 minutes before we were seated.
Of course, I had to try the French Onion Soup. It was wonderful.
We also got the Gratin de Macaroni (Mac and Cheese) to share.
Nancy got the Steak Frites for dinner.
I got the Boeuf Bourguignon..
Our younger daughter got the pork shank.
Our older daughter got the Baked Goat Cheese Salad.
We all split the Gateau au Chocolat to share for dessert.
We took in a lot of activities at Epcot that we hadn’t done in years. We went into all the pavilions and looked in most of the shops. We watched the Circle Vision movies in France, Canada, and China. We watched the water fountains and checked into Club Cool a couple of times. Epcot is a great park for slowing down and taking in the details.
Here are the other parts of the trip:
