So, much to my horror, I discovered the other day that you can no longer purchase Disney gift cards from Target with a Target gift card.  I tried two different orders and both got canceled right away.  I was shocked, because it had always worked before.  In fact, it was the primary method we used to reduce the costs of our Disney trips.

After a bit of research, it appears that you can take your Target gift cards into Target and buy Disney gift cards with them, but you miss out on the 5% off.  Or, you can buy them with your Target Red Card and get 5% off, but no discounts from buying that Target gift card.

So, given this news, what is our plan going forward?  I’ll probably just shift to purchasing Disney gift cards from nearby office supply stores and getting 5X the Ultimate Reward points.  I can use those for Hyatt hotel rooms and United airline flights.  I am definitely going to miss the 5% off though, every little bit counts.
