Alaska Cruise – Part 10 – Get off the boat

Day 8

DSCN1109

This would be the saddest day, debarkation day.  I’ve already described the debarkation procedure in a previous post.  Since we had the first seating for dinner, we had the first breakfast seating.  Breakfast on debarkation day is a quick affair.  We were up early and headed to breakfast.  We grabbed a quick bite to eat and said goodbye to Shane and Yansen, our dining room team.  We also said goodbye to Roy, the head server.  We then headed to one of the ship’s lounges to wait for our departure group to be released.

We headed off the ship, gathered our luggage, and headed for Customs.  I’m positive it was a Canadian Customs official we saw, but I don’t recall.  We then headed into the parking garage to find our car.  We loaded the bags and got ourselves ready to travel.  We had another two weeks planned in Vancouver, Seattle, and on Vancouver Island.  We were super sad to leave the ship, but excited about the rest of the trip.

We did return to Vancouver a week later during our travels.  We made sure to include a trip to Stanley Park, where we watched the Wonder sail back out.

This was our first cruise we had ever taken and probably the best.  We have since taken five more (for a total of six), but none have been as breathtaking or exciting as this one.  I don’t know if it was the fact that it was our first cruise or that it was Alaska.  I sort of feel like we did one of the bucket list cruises first and will always struggle to have a better experience.  We will probably do this cruise again in the future just because of the great experience we had on it the first time.  I highly encourage you to do an Alaskan cruise if you are thinking about it.
