Cheap Shopping Options (Disney World)

“Cheap” and “shopping” are two terms that are normally not used together when it comes to Disney.  Most of the items at Disney are much more expensive than you would find elsewhere.  However, if you plan ahead, you can spend less money shopping at Disney than you might have otherwise.

A few of the ways we have found to save money:

1) Use a Disney credit card to save 10% any purchase off $50 or more.  This is an instant discount that comes off on the purchase.  This discount is a standard benefit of both the Chase Disney branded credit cards.

2) Use Disney gift cards that you’ve purchased (at a discount) to pay for items, or to pay off your room charges.

3) Take a side trip to Orlando to visit the Disney Character Premiere store at the Orlando Premium Outlets.

The outlet store carries overstocked or old merchandise.  We’ve found $1.00 pins, t-shirts and all sorts of Disney stuff for much less than you would pay at a Disney park or resort.  The kids loved getting “old” pins just as much as they liked getting new ones, plus they were 10 times cheaper.
4) Give everybody a budget before traveling.  This makes for much better decisions when making purchases, especially for the younger members of your party.  They know not to buy the first thing they see because they might not be able to buy a special item they find later on.  They become much better shoppers when its “their” money.
