Day 3 on the ship was a port stop in Cozumel. We have been to Cozumel a few times before, so we already had our plan setup. We were going to eat at Pancho’s Backyard. It’s also located in Los Cinco Soles, one of our favorite stores.
I woke up early and took our younger daughter up to Cabanas for a quick breakfast. While at breakfast, she said she really didn’t want to get off the ship, she would prefer to just stay on the ship and play at the pool or look for her friends from the Edge. Since I wasn’t overly concerned about missing the port stop at Cozumel, I told her that was fine and I would stay on the ship with her.
Nancy and my older daughter wanted to continue with the plan, so they headed off the Magic.
I took up my position in the adult area and told my younger daughter to either text me on the Disney Cruise Navigator App or pop over to the adult area to get me if she needed me. (I don’t let my children hang out in the adult area, but in an emergency, they can come over and get us if they need us).
Nancy soon arrived at the store. The store has lots of local goods and crafts, which is why we really like it. The girls have occasionally purchased jewelry at the store, but we all really enjoy looking around at all the various items they have.
Pancho’s Backyard is located adjacent to the store. The food is a bit on the pricey side, but it is all very good. They also have a reverse osmosis machine (at least it says so on the menu) that they use for all the water and ice in the restaurant. We have eaten there twice (including this trip) and have never had any ill effects. Here are Nancy’s pictures from lunch:
On the way back to the ship, Nancy took a few pictures.
I spent the afternoon at the adult area of the ship. I decided to turn on my cell phone and surf the web for a bit. We have a Verizon Wireless Unlimited Data plan that gives us free service in Canada and Mexico. This was the first time I had used it in Mexico and didn’t have any issues with it, either from a performance problem or cost problem when we returned.
Nancy let me know when they returned to the ship, so we met up in the room. Our pirate bandanas were waiting for us since it was Pirate night. We also had the brochure from the Vacation Planning Desk. I had already booked our place holder cruise the day before while waiting for the character dance party.
We headed up to the top deck to get in a few more pictures of Cozumel before we sailed away.
She also got a great picture of the Twist N’ Spout. The ship still wasn’t too busy at this time because a good portion of the passengers will still on shore.
While heading back to the room, we passed through the Atrium and saw Chip and Dale getting ready to greet guests wearing their Pirate Gear. The Marvel Day At Sea backdrop was in the lobby as well, which was odd considering it was a Christmas cruise.
After we left Cozumel, the wind really picked up. I headed up to the Pirates in the Caribbean Party to get some pictures. Unfortunately, I didn’t stay very long because it was hard to stand on Deck 10 (the upper deck) to get pictures. The wind was really strong. I don’t know how they managed to launch the fireworks. I took a few pictures and then headed back to the room before it was over.
Dinner tonight for us was in Lumiere’s with the standard menu. This is a family favorite. To get things started, we ordered the Escargot, the French Onion Soup, and the Breaded and Deep Fried Brie.
For dinner, we ordered the Oven-Baked Salmon Royal and the Chateaubriand-Roasted Filet Steak.
For dessert, we ordered my favorite, the Grand Marnier Souffle. (I might have actually ordered two) Someone ordered the Tiramisu Mocha Latte as well!
After dessert, Nancy and I stayed at the table and talked with our wonderful server and assistant server. After hanging out for a bit, we headed back to the room. We had this guy waiting for us. Also on the bed was a Navigator for tomorrow and a survey about the port of Cozumel.
Tomorrow was going to be another day at sea and brunch at Palo!
