During our July 2022 9 night Southern Caribbean sailing on the Disney Fantasy, we were able to be on Disney Cruise Line’s first port stop in Dominica! We wanted to get off the ship to see some of the island, so we booked the Dominica Beach Break excursion! The cost per person for this excursion was $54.
The Fantasy arrived at Roseau, Dominica in the morning with rain in the air. We weren’t worried, we figured it is better to be on a beach in the Caribbean on vacation than at home.
As we got ready and had breakfast, the clouds started to break and the sun came out.
We eventually headed to The Tube night club to meet up for our excursion. In the Tube, we grabbed towels for our excursion, checked in with the cruise staff, and were given stickers designating the tour we were on.
Once our group was called, we followed the excursion staff off the ship and onto the dock.
We were then assigned to a small van that would transport us to the beach and return us at the end of the excursion.
The van driver took us from Roseau to Mero Beach. While the drive went along some winding roads, it wasn’t a very rough ride and nobody got car sick.
Once we arrived at Mero Beach, we were directed to chairs with umbrellas. We were also each given two drink tokens that we could use for rum punch, beer, soda, or water. The beach had bathrooms and fresh water showers to use. The beach was a silver black color due to the volcanic nature of the island. The beach wasn’t rocky at all and the water was wonderful.
Unfortunately, the rain returned off and on throughout the day, but we didn’t let it affect our day. We had a great time.
After a few hours, everyone started to gather up their belongings for the return to the ship. We were able to wash the sand off our feet and return to our van. The van safely transported us back to the ship. We decided to do a little shopping before heading back on. Overall, I would highly recommend this excursion if you are looking for a beach day in Dominica.
