Disney Cruise Palo Dinner

Disney describes Palo’s menu as classic Northern Italian cooking “with a modern twist.”  Palo serves brunch and dinner for an additional charge of $40 per person.  The brunch consists of a combination of a buffet and a limited number of a la carte items.  Dinner is served off of an a la carte menu.  A version of Palo is found on all the Disney Cruise Line ships.  The Wonder and Magic have matching layouts and the Fantasy and Dream have matching layouts.

During a recent sailing on the Disney Wonder, Nancy and I finally enjoyed a dinner at Palo.  We’ve enjoyed the brunch multiple times, but didn’t want to skip dinner with our girls.  Since we had late dinner, we figured we could enjoy Palo and still meet the girls for dinner.  With the recent changes to the Disney Cruise Line website, we could easily determine what night the Pirate Night Menu was being offered and we chose to skip it, since we have enjoyed it before.

We managed to enter Palo during embarkation day to snap a couple of quick photos before the restaurant was open (with permission, of course).

Upon entering Palo the night of our dinner reservation, we were shown to our seats.  Our waitress was introduced to us, who confirmed the dietary restrictions we had entered when checking in for the cruise.  We were then presented with the wine menu.

Nancy ordered a glass of wine and I ordered the iced tea.  One nice aspect of the iced tea is that the ice cubes they use are made from iced tea, so that when they melt, they don’t water down the tea.

We were offered a basket of various breads as well as some antipasto.

After the antipasto, we were offered a lemon sorbet palate cleanser.

We then decided to take a look through the entree menu.

Nancy ordered the Tiramisu and I ordered the Chocolate Souffle.  If I remember correctly, I ordered the souffle much earlier in the meal.  I thought it took them a while to make it, thus making it necessary to order it so early.

I don’t remember if this Venetian sgroppino was given to us before or after dinner, but it was a combination of vodka, lemon sorbet and Prosecco.  It was really good.

Palo dinner was a wonderful experience.  We probably should have done it on an earlier cruise.  On a longer cruise on the Magic or Wonder, we will probably do both brunch and dinner.  On the Fantasy or Dream, we will probably continue to do Palo Brunch and Remy Dinner.  On a shorter cruise, we will probably do just Palo Brunch
