Disneyland – Part 5, Day 4
Another day, another park visit. This was our last day before heading off to Hawaii. We were going to get our second visit into Disneyland, so we headed off early. We went straight back to Space Mountain to get some FastPasses, then headed to Fantasyland to knock off a bunch of rides right away. We then went to ride Pirates and grab lunch at the French Market.
We managed to get through most of the things we wanted to ride early in the day. The crowds began to grow and so did the lines. We hit Small World one last time, and then decided to just walk around Main Street and soak up the atmosphere. The first place we headed to was the Disneyland Railroad Main Street Station. The Railroad was shut down at the time since they are moving the track for the new Star Wars Land. We ended up talking to the nicest cast member there for quite a long time. He works on the railroad as an engineer and talked to us for 90 minutes and answered any questions we had. He told us how he worked his way up to engineer on the railroad, as well as shared his general thoughts about life as a cast member. He took the girls up to the engine and let them look around.
We watched the parade as it went by, then went over to see Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. We really enjoyed the exhibit in the lobby and looked around there for quite a while. We looked around all the shops, and stopped to look at the windows on Main Street that pay tribute to all the Disney legends.
We then headed back towards Frontierland. I wanted to make sure we looked around the Mark Twain Riverboat, even if it wasn’t moving at the moment because of the Star Wars Land expansion. The kids weren’t nearly as excited as I was to go on the boat. There was a band playing on the boat, so we spent some time resting on the boat and listening to the music.
We walked around the park some more, but eventually headed to the lockers near the front. We had dinner reservation at Napa Rose and we needed to change into the nicer clothes we’d brought to the park. This meant that we would be ending our park night a bit early, but everyone was excited to try out Napa Rose. We ended up changing at the Grand Californian because we thought it might be a bit easier than changing in the restrooms at Disneyland.
The first time we visited Disneyland, Napa Rose was closed for refurbishment. We definitely weren’t going to miss it this time. For our first course, we ordered the cheese sampler. We’ve gotten into the habit of ordering a cheese plate at most places we go to. Our youngest daughter won’t eat it, but turns it into a game show. We (the other three) sample a cheese, and try to come up with the most outrageous manner of describing the taste to each other. It usually ends up with us getting looks from other tables as we try to stifle our laughs. Well, this cheese sampler did not disappoint.
Our oldest daughter is a vegetarian, so she ordered roasted vegetables. She loved the entree she received. I believe I got a steak of some sort, and it was delicious as well. We had no complaints about the food, although the service left a little to be desired. After talking about it at length, we decided we liked the meal, but we prefer California Grill at Walt Disney World better.
At this point, we were done eating and getting tired quickly. We were still dressed up from dinner as well. We decided to just grab a cab to take us around the parks instead of trying to walk back through the hotel and the entrance way. It probably took us the same amount of time, but we didn’t have to walk and it wasn’t very expensive. We got the kids in bed and spent a few minutes getting our stuff organized for the early trip to the airport the next morning.
