Prior to a recent quick trip to Walt Disney World, we were searching for a cheap hotel room. We had used most of our hotel points up planning future trips, so we were limited to using Hyatt Points or paying for a room. A quick scan of the Hyatt website showed the Hyatt Place Orlando / Convention Center had availability for the three nights we needed. The Hyatt Place is a Category 2 Hyatt property, which means it costs 8,000 points a night for a standard room. We had just enough points to book it. We have stayed at various Hyatt properties before and found them to be fairly good.
The only room option at the point we booked (one week out from traveling) was a King bed with a sofa bed. The girls would probably have preferred two queen beds, but since they were getting a trip to Walt Disney World in a week, they were willing to deal with a sofa bed. The hotel was located about 20 minutes away from the parks, which meant we would have to drive everywhere. There are quite a few dinner options nearby as well if we wanted to eat outside the parks.
We arrived at the hotel fairly late, having spent our first day at Animal Kingdom. We easily found parking and headed to the check in area. The front desk person checked us in and directed us to the elevators. As we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was nice, especially considering the amount of points we used.
To the immediate right of the door, was a small desk and kitchen area. The kitchen area had a small sink, fridge, and coffee maker.
The sofa bed was the left of the door.
The bathroom area was on the right past the desk/kitchen area. The toilet and shower were in a separate area with a door for privacy.
The king bed was opposite the bathroom area.
The breakfast area was downstairs in the lobby, opposite the check in desk. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had at a Hyatt property. It was a standard continental breakfast with a few hot options. The staff was super friendly and kept the breakfast area restocked.
The room wasn’t the largest room we’ve stayed in, but we really just needed a clean, comfortable room to sleep in. We spent all our days in the park, so this was a place to get a shower, get some sleep, and grab a quick breakfast before heading back into the parks. Overall, we would definitely recommend this Hyatt if you have similar needs!
