While on a recent Royal Caribbean cruise on board the Ovation of the Seas, we got the opportunity to try Izumi. Izumi is a specialty upgrade restaurant found onboard a number of Royal Caribbean ships. The restaurant has an a la carte menu. You can also visit the restaurant as part of a dining package, which is what we did. Since we used a dining package, we were granted $35 per person and anything additional would be charged to our stateroom.
Once we were seated, we were asked about allergies. Once we indicated the shellfish allergy in our family, the waiter was a bit shocked. We asked if it was going to be a problem, and he insisted it wouldn’t be despite the fact that he acted like it was a huge problem.
We ordered a number of appetizers to start off with.
We probably went overboard on the appetizers. We were pretty full once we got our sushi.
The girls were done after the sushi, but Nancy and I decided to get one of our favorite desserts, Crispy Sesame Balls.
