Spring Break 2016 Cruise – Part 6 – Sea Day
Day 4 brought another sea day. We didn’t really have any plans for the day, other than relaxing. The kids took off early to go their clubs. Nancy and I decided to walk around the ship. We stuck our head inside the laundry room just to get a quick picture. We’ve never used the laundry facilities on the ship, but they look pretty standard. The payment method looks like it takes a Key To The World card, thus charging the washer or dryer load to your stateroom.
We checked the Navigator App and noticed Stitch was doing a meet and greet on the pool deck. Stitch is Nancy’s favorite character, so we headed up there to get in line. As we waited for him to appear, our older daughter came by with a group of teenagers from the Vibe. They were off on a scavenger hunt (and a slice of pizza). We talked for a few minutes and she was off again. Stitch soon arrived and we got our picture.
We had taken some pictures of the adult pool area while we were at Cozumel the day before. I think the pictures fit better here than on Cozumel day, so here they are! The adult pool area was really dead on the port day, but it never really gets very busy (at least compared to the other pools). Nancy and I actually ended up coming to the adult area and hung out the rest of the day reading. We didn’t see the girls until closer to dinner time.
When we returned to the room to get ready for dinner, we had our gratuity payment sheet in the room. Disney Cruise Line moved to automatic gratuities in recent years. The amounts are $12 per day per person in your room. That breaks down to $4 for the stateroom host/hostess, $4 for the server, $3 for the assistant server, and $1 for the head server. If for some reason you aren’t happy with the amounts, you can always visit guest services. You can also add to the amount as well. We usually just include additional cash in the tip envelopes.
We had dinner that night in Parrot Cay. I didn’t manage to capture many pictures, but I did get one of the prime rib and the dessert. I believe the dessert was the French Toast Banana Bread Pudding.
We returned to our room and found our plans on the bed for the next day at Castaway Cay. We had booked our excursions at the first opportunity and had managed to get a Cabana. This is the second time we had managed to get a Cabana. The other time had been on our January 2015 Cruise and we really enjoyed it. That cruise was an off season cruise and we figured it must not have been full in order for us to secure a Cabana. They tend to go really early. We were actually shocked to find one available for a Spring Break cruise and we grabbed it as soon as we saw it. We did ask the girls later if they would rather hang in a Cabana or do some other excursion on Castaway Cay (specifically, parasailing and the stingray encounter). Without any hesitation, they wanted the Cabana.
