We’ve previously discussed using the Target 5% discount as a method to reduce the cost of your Disney vacations.
Another aspect of that discount method is the ability to stack discounts on top of it. One aspect of the online Target checkout software is that it allows you to pay with Target Gift Cards. As long as your Target Credit/Debit/Prepaid card is set as the default payment method, you can still get 5% off your total purchase EVEN if you use Target Gift Cards to pay for it. This is not the way it works in the store though. In the store, you only get 5% off the portion of your purchase that actually goes onto the Target Credit/Debit/Prepaid card.
So, now that you know you can use Target Gift Cards and still get the 5% discount, you need to find places to acquire Target Gift Cards at a discount. This can be grocery stores, office supply stores, etc. You can even buy them at Target if that works for you using a credit card that gives you 2 or more percent back.
How will this add to a larger discount? If you have a credit card that gives you a 2% discount, you can purchase your Target Gift Cards and get 2% cash back for them. You can purchase a $100 Target Gift card for $98. Then, use that $100 gift card to order $100 in Disney gift cards for $95, leaving you $5 on the Target gift card. So, you got $100 in Disney gift cards, but you only spent $98 and you have a $5 Target gift card which you can use for your next gift card purchase. You have effectively purchased your Disney gift cards for 7% off.
The key to this strategy is to see if you can boost that 2% discount higher. There are several credit cards that will give you up to 5-6% off at grocery stores or office supply stores. Those are great sources to search for Target Gift Cards to take advantage of this.
You can also buy Target gift cards online through raise.com or other methods to get larger discounts. Target had a Black Friday special in 2014 that allowed you to buy up to $300 in Target gift cards at a 10% discount. If you bought them with a 2% cash back card, you would effectively be buying those Disney gift cards at 17% off! I’ll take that discount any day.

Is this actually still possible? In Target’s REDcard policy it states that you don’t get the 5% off of prepaid cards or Target gift cards. If it still works, I may need to scoop a few up.
The 5% off works both in the store and online. Target considers Disney Gift Cards as entertainment cards. If you set your Target REDcard as the default payment method, you can even use Target gift cards to pay the Disney Gift Cards and get the 5% off. Again though, this only works online. If you purchase in the store, you get the 5% off, but only on the amount that you charge to the Target REDcard.
Have you heard about this site cardbear,com? I haven’t tried it (or any of the other actual gift certificate sites), but right now they have Target giftcards for 10.5% off. So you can get a 100 dollar giftcard, for $89 (really 11% off), then if you used this trick with target.com, you should get a $100 disney card for 95, with 5 left on the card, netting ~15% off (depending on your calculations) They also have Disney cards on there directly for 10% off.

I haven’t used any of the card resellers. I have read numerous reports of people using raise.com though and having successful outcomes.
I would check the Disney card description carefully. There are Disney store cards that aren’t good at the parks, just at the store or online at the store.
Can you buy a Target gift card at Target using your Redcard for 5% off, then stack that online as described in this post for an additional 5% off? Or do you not get the 5% off of gift cards purchased in store?
Unfortunately, you can’t infinitely stack that discount. Target won’t discount Target gift cards. There used to be an option to get 10% off by stacking a Target prescription 5% discount coupon with the 5% from the Target Redcard, but they put a stop to that a few years ago.
