Day four of our cruise was another glorious sea day. The girls eventually got moving out of the room, so Nancy and I decided to go to Triton’s to have brunch. Nancy enjoys breakfast and I prefer lunch, so it was the perfect meal for us. We probably spent an hour having brunch and talking, then we decided to head towards Promenade Lounge. We needed to kill some time before two of our favorite activities, Jack Jack’s Diaper Dash and the Character Dance Party. Luckily, Promenade Lounge was hosting Disney Cruise Line’s version of the Family Feud.
As we headed towards the Promenade Lounge, we made sure to look around the new (to us) atrium. The chandelier in the atrium had been changed since the last time we got on board. While this version is nice, I think I preferred the older version a bit more.
Here is the old version:
Here is the new one:
After an exciting round of the Feud, we headed back to the atrium to watch Jack Jack’s Diaper Dash. While we were waiting for it to begin, I saw my first Marvel character on board a Disney Cruise ship. Captain America was meeting with the passengers.
The Diaper Dash is held in the main atrium and is a crawling baby race! The babies get to race for glory against each other. We picked an overhead perch to watch all the activity. It didn’t take too long before the racers arrived from all corners of the ship. Spectators are encouraged to cheer and clap for their favorite racers. Parents can encourage their racers with whatever they would like (food, toys, Mother, etc). The participants are only allowed to crawl. If they rise up and take steps, they are disqualified.
This race was highly competitive, with so many babies showing up that they had to hold two heats.
One young lady was eventually declared the champion and was celebrated with the coveted DCL Winner’s medal. Once she was crowned, the entertainment staff started cleaning up the lobby for our second favorite activity, the Character Dance Party. The characters show up and lead the audience through some outstanding dance moves. Each character takes a turn on the stage while the rest of the characters enter the audience to dance with the crowd. The music is generally semi-current, family friendly pop songs.
Another thing we were looking forward to on this trip was to see one of the new Frozen shows introduced to the Wonder. We had worried that we would have to catch the show at 6 pm before dinner. Luckily, there was a matinee performance scheduled for 2 pm. After we watched the Character Dance Party, we headed to the Walt Disney Theater to get seats for the show. The theater was packed, everybody had come to see the matinee.
We don’t take pictures or video during the show, but believe me, it was awesome. I won’t spoil it but it might be one of the best shows we’ve seen on all of our Disney cruises. In my opinion, the only thing close might be the Tangled show on the Magic.
After watching Frozen, we all headed up to get some food from the shawarma station. We enjoyed our late lunch and relaxed near the pool area for a while. We then decided to head down to the Crown and Fin for 80’s music trivia. Along the way, we stopped at Guest Services. We had already prepaid our tips for the cruise, but wanted to add some additional money for the staff. The process was really easy and we were on our way to trivia.
Trivia went pretty much how it always goes. Nancy knows almost all the songs and I have vaguely heard them before. We didn’t win but had a good time. Once we finished up with trivia, we headed to the Promenade Lounge to listen to one of the musicians.
Nancy headed to the fitness center for another run on the treadmill while I stayed in the Lounge. She is always much more disciplined than I am when it come to maintaining an exercise routine, especially while on vacation.
We headed back to the stateroom to an unexpected problem. The carpet near the outside of our bathroom was wet. I think the accessible shower wasn’t draining properly and water was flowing under the bathroom wall. We found our stateroom attendant and let him know about the leak. He said he would start to dry out the carpet while we were at dinner.
Tonight’s dinner was in Animator’s Palate with the standard menu.
The Animator’s Palate Menu is one of my favorite menus across all the Disney cruise ships. After dinner, we were treated to another fantastic dessert from the pastry chef. Nancy and I were more than stuffed, but there was more fun to be had this evening. We headed back to the Cove Cafe for our Rum Tasting that we had signed up for and previously discussed.
We managed to get through all the rum, but were super tired. We headed to bed.
Tomorrow, we will be stopping at Ensenada!
